Why do we only stock Egyptian Cotton sheets?

For 300 years, Egyptian cotton has established an undisputed reputation as having strength and superior softness making it the “best cotton in the world”.

Why is this?

It is due to the following characteristics.
Egyptian cotton has gained this excellent reputation and with very good reason. Its length of fibre makes it possible to produce the finest quality yarns without jeopardising the strength of the yarn itself. The length of fibre also allows the cotton material produced to be more solid and less susceptible to stress, meaning it is less likely to rip or tear. Its ability to absorb liquids gives the fabrics made from Egyptian cotton a deeper, brighter and more resistant colour whilst keeping its softness that feels like nothing else in the world.

Why is that important?

Picking the cotton by hand guarantees the highest levels of purity in the cotton. It removes any chance of stress on the fibres leaving the fibres straight and intact. Machine picking will reduce the price of the material but it causes the fibres to be torn and therefore reduces the strength of the fibre providing an inferior cotton weave.

All these factors have resulted in the Egyptian cotton being by far the best cotton in the world. Fabrics made of Egyptian cotton are softer, finer and last longer than any other cotton in the world.

What is Thread Count?

Thread Count is the number of threads per square inch of fabric. For example 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton means there is 1000 threads of Egyptian cotton per square inch of material. As the cotton is so soft and strong the more threads per inch the thicker, stronger and softer the fabric will be.
